Privacy Policy

🔒 Your health data is stored locally on your device. Optional cloud features (Smart Scan, AI Insights) send specific data only when you use them — and Axis does not store it after processing.

Overview

Axis Protocol is a mobile application designed to help users track and visualize their hormone replacement therapy data — including testosterone, estradiol, and related compounds. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Data Collection

Axis does not require an account and does not store your health data on our servers.

Data you enter into the app — including injection logs, symptom tracking, lab results, and protocol settings — is stored in a local database on your device. Two optional Pro features send data off-device only when you use them (see Optional Cloud Features below), and sanitized crash reports and usage analytics are described in their own sections.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell your data or use advertising trackers
  • We do not automatically transmit your stored health records; explicitly-enabled AI features send only the data disclosed for Smart Scan or AI Insights
  • We do not use analytics tools that track your specific health inputs, lab values, or therapy data
  • We do not create user accounts or profiles on our servers

Local Storage Only

All information you enter in Axis is stored locally on your device. This includes:

  • Injection history (dates, doses, compounds)
  • Symptom logs (mood, energy, libido, etc.)
  • Lab results (testosterone levels, bloodwork)
  • Protocol configurations
  • App preferences and settings

Crash Reporting

We collect sanitized crash reports to improve app stability. Before anything is sent, error messages and free-text values are removed — reports contain the error type, sanitized stack traces, and device diagnostics only:

  • Device type and OS version
  • App version
  • Error types and sanitized stack traces
  • General performance metrics

If you use the in-app feedback form, the message you write is deliberately included in that report — disclosed in the feedback UI — and is the only free-text that leaves the device via Sentry. Crash and feedback reports are processed by Sentry, a third-party error monitoring service, solely for identifying and fixing bugs.

Product Analytics

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the app is used in aggregate. These analytics help us improve features and prioritize development.

What we collect:

  • Anonymous usage events (e.g., “injection logged,” “lab added”) — no health values, no dose amounts, no symptom scores
  • Onboarding funnel completion
  • Feature adoption counts
  • Flow timing (how long actions take)

What we do NOT collect via analytics:

  • Lab values, symptom scores, or dose amounts
  • Compound names or injection sites
  • Any personally identifiable information
  • Device advertising identifiers

Analytics are linked to a random, resettable anonymous ID stored locally on your device — not to your name, email, or Apple/Google account. You can opt out of analytics or reset your anonymous ID at any time in Settings → Privacy.

Optional Cloud Features

Two Pro features send data off your device, only when you use them and only after in-app disclosure:

  • Smart Scan— when you scan a lab report, the photo or PDF is sent to Axis's processing service and our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract lab values. Your report is encrypted in transit and processed by Axis and our AI provider. Axis does not store the report or extracted values after processing. Our AI provider may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring and does not use them for model training unless explicitly opted in.
  • AI Insights — if you explicitly enable AI Insights, Axis sends therapy context (estimated levels, protocol timing, adherence, check-in trends, lab calibration status, and related therapy metadata) to generate a personalized summary. The same retention terms apply. This feature is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off any time in Settings.

Device backups: Axis stores your health database locally. Depending on your Apple backup settings, it may be included in an iCloud or computer device backup. These backups are managed by Apple and you—not by Axis—and their encryption protections depend on your backup settings. Axis does not receive or control them. On Android, Axis opts out of OS cloud backup; use the in-app backup feature instead.

Data Export

You can export your data at any time through the Settings menu. This allows you to keep backups, share data with your healthcare provider, or transfer data to other applications.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

  • Uninstalling the app will delete all your data
  • You can reset the app through Settings to clear all data
  • We cannot recover deleted data as we never had access to it

Third-Party Services

Axis does not integrate with any advertising or behavioral tracking services. The third-party services we use are Sentry (crash reporting and user-initiated feedback), PostHog (anonymous product analytics), RevenueCat (subscription management for Axis Pro — receives an anonymous app user id, never health data), and Anthropic (AI processing for the optional Smart Scan and AI Insights features described above). The app operates primarily offline and does not require an internet connection for core functionality.

Children's Privacy

Axis is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this document.
